\”Hello – I\’m wondering if you could help me?\” the voice questioned me over the phone. \”I just got this rescue dog a week or so ago – a kelpie fellow – I have another four dogs, but this one seems really disconnected. He doesn\’t seem to want have anything much to do with me, or with the other dogs, and he keeps on jumping the fence and taking off. He does come back, but I\’m terribly worried that one of my neighbours will shoot him. We live out on a bush block, and I\’m afraid I\’m too far away to bring him in to see you…\”
\”Hmmm…\” I replied. \”What I can offer you is a distant energy healing session, and I can mail you a flower essence remedy as well?\”
\”What,\” she said in a mildly disbelieving tone, \”is a distant healing session? And how on earth can you help my dog without being here with him?\”
\”Well,\” I explained, \”are you familiar with Reiki?\”
\”I have heard of it, and I\’ve had a few friends who say that they have had remarkable results with Reiki treatments for themselves.\”
\”Reiki is one of the healing techniques I have trained in, and part of the training teaches you how to do a distant healing. I have also trained in and learned about a lot of other subtle energy healing techniques. Are you willing to give it a go?\”
There was a short, pregnant silence.
\”Well, why not,\” she said. \”There\’s nothing else I can do to help him, and he\’s a beautiful dog. I\’d love to have him connect in with us all, and settle down. I think he\’s had a pretty rough life.\”
I took some details, and organised a time to \”tune in\” and do the session with him. It was later on that evening , when I\’d cleared my plate of all the things the day demanded, that I sat down at my desk. I took a few minutes to breathe and relax, to center myself, and to get nice and clear and grounded. Everyone has a different intuitive sensorium, and anyone can develop this subtle skill. I tend to be mostly kinesthetic, so I get a \”feeling sense\”, or a direct knowing, when I tune in or do energy healing sessions. Others \”see\” the energy, or some people \”hear\” it.
I connected with the dog, and the first thing I sensed was that his energy field was all blown out and scattered. In a healthy animal, the energy field, or aura, should be nice and cohesive, with a clear, strong boundary – a bit like a bubble of energy around the body about 2 feet or so around in all directions. His was wispy, weak, and spread out a good 5-6 feet away from his body. The first step was to hold space for this. This is the essence of any healing session – holding a loving space with one\’s awareness and focus, for the animal to heal within. I also filled the space around him with a series of colours, all intuitively chosen. Red, yellow, brown, green, white. As I did, I could sense that his energy fields were naturally and easily drawing back in, and becoming clearer, stronger, more cohesive. He felt very ungrounded, also, so I directed healing energy into the space under his feet to help him connect with the earth.
When this phase of the session was complete, I was drawn to the energy flow (or relationship) between his heart centre and his new owners heart centre. There was a complete disconnect here. So I took time and focus to gently support an opening and connection between them. As I did, many past patterns came up for him, to be cleared, healed, and resolved. I got a sense that they were old emotional traumas, and that he had been mistreated by previous owners. It took a long time before suddenly something let go on a very deep level, and the connection between them came alive. It was still nascent, weak, so I kept holding space until it was strong, like a well lit candle flame sheltered from the wind.
Finally, I tuned into the pack flow with him and the other dogs. Here, again, he was disconnected. I took time now to hold space to allow him to connect in a healthy way, and to energetically become one of the team, so to speak. This felt like a very large thing for him, and I sensed a lot of energy rushes and tingles through my own body as the flows for him to accept the other dogs as his pack opened up like a flower bud to the sun. then, finally, I held space for some time for him to integrate and assimilate all the shifts this healing session had unfolded for him.
After that, I selected some Australian Bush Flower remedies and made up a dropper bottle of them to pop in the post the next morning. These are fantastic for supporting healing on an emotional level.
The lady rang me back a few days later.
\”You know what?\” an amused and happy voice said. \”I\’m surprised and amazed. I was more than a bit skeptical, but the difference in this dog has been nothing short of remarkable, and I noticed the change directly after you did the session. In fact, I even noticed some change while the session was happening! He came over to me and connected with me, asked for a pat for the first time since he\’s been here. He\’s stopped jumping the fence and running off, and now he\’s very much a member of the pack. I have to look twice sometimes to make sure he\’s the same dog! So thank you very much indeed.\”
It was a remarkable result. The miracle of healing in action!
